John Myers attended undergraduate school at Vanderbilt University (B.E.M.E. 1968), the University of New Mexico Law School (J.D. summa cum laude 1974), and Harvard Law School (L.L.M. in Taxation and Property law, with honors, 1975). From January 1, 1977 until July, 1979, Mr. Myers was the director of the City of Albuquerque Legal Department, Real Estate Division. Since 1979, he has been in private practice, principally as a transactional lawyer, involving financing, sale, purchase, leasing and development of commercial real estate. He has a particular emphasis on land use and real estate development matters. Mr. Myers has been an adjunct professor of property law at the University of New Mexico law school. Mr. Myers has served as the President of the Albuquerque Bar Association. He has been named in Best Lawyers in America since 1987, has been named as one of the leading real estate lawyers in New Mexico by the Chambers USA publication since 2003, and has been named as one of the top 25 lawyers in New Mexico by the Southwest Super Lawyers publication. He was selected by New Mexico Business Weekly for inclusion on its list of Best of the Bar-2011. Best Lawyers named Mr. Myers the 2009 New Mexico real estate lawyer of the year, the 2012 New Mexico land use & zoning lawyer of the year and the 2012 New Mexico land use & zoning litigation lawyer of the year.
